Tall buildings

5/30/2022

First week in this new area in Manhattan was crazy! Really coming to learn what New York life is like haha the hustle and the bustle!! My new companions name is Elder Peck he is such a homie. Going to enjoy this transfer! It's been a busy week with helping an Elder get ready to go to his original assignment which is Hong Kong, to figuring out this area and to helping in some baptisms this week! There has been some long days but overall a good time.

The mission tour was such a wonderful experience. Elder Sean Douglas shared some uplifting thoughts and truly had such an amazing Spirit about him. It was a good time hearing from a Seventy and his experience as a missionary!

If anyone remembers when I talked about our friend Mo, he has progressed super fast and became such a great friend. It was sad to say goodbye to him, but knowing he was in good hands it was okay. He wanted me to join his baptism but I wasn't able to go so I visited in Spirit hahahha I will share a good picture! Seriously such an amazing guy who has a good story!! But had some other fun baptisms I was able to help out with and attend in my new area, so it kinda equals out, just sad I wasn't able to make it to the one that I spent lots of time with. All is good, not the best email this week with explaining everything haha but enjoying the new area and the tall buildings, have a good week everyone!

Happy Monday! This was one of the best weeks!! We started off this week with a zoom mission tour, Elder Sean Douglas from the Seventy was there. It was awesome, he talked about how to work with members more and also how fun and rewarding missionary work is! Very true the mission is very hard but so worth it and rewarding!! This next week he will be coming to the mission and having the mission tour in person in Manhattan!!!!

This week was full of moments of great Joy!! We had lots of really amazing lessons this week, and have seen lots of success lately. Our friend Thukten got baptized!! It was an amazing experience, he had the biggest desire to get baptized and was so happy. After he was baptized he shared his testimony with everyone, his English isn't the best but it's amazing of how much his English has come from the first time we talked with him, he is from a country called Bhutan. But he shared his testimony of the first time he heard about Jesus which was in a movie and ever since that time his life has changed! Jesus has changed his life and he kept saying he got to this point in his life with all of us because of Jesus! He is such a stud! Had the biggest smile on his face and came up and told us that he was so happy!! Very grateful to be able to help Thukten :)

We got news for transfers! And I will be getting transferred, it's a bitter sweet moment. I am going to miss this area and the people here, it has really taught me so much and treated me good! But I am so excited to go serve the people in Union Sq. Manhattan!!! I am going to the big city! Bye bye Queens.

Small and Simple

05/16/2022

Howdie!! Such a busy week. So much has happened but it's so hard to explain all of it in an email so I will try my best. This week started off great I spent a day in the Spanish area with the Zone leaders! It was so much fun!! My Spanish isn't good at all but it was a great time. They have bikes so we rode bikes around for the day and the bike they had for me was actually broken, the chain was not working and the piece to fix it wasn't working so they pushed and pulled me around when we were on the bikes hahah it was a fun free ride around town lol

This week was a wild one with figuring out everything with our friends. One of our friends was suppose to be baptized this week! But we had to push it back a week. His name is Thukten and he is so ready to be baptized, so excited for him this next week it's going to be awesome!!

A miracle that we had this week was with our new friend named Mo! We found him a little bit ago working out at a park doing some pull ups. So we ended up doing a couple pull ups with him. Had a nice conversation with him then was able to get his phone number. This little bit of showing interest and spreading our love towards him was small and simple! We lost contact with him so that was sad but then he showed up at church! When he was at church this last Sunday he asked us how he can join and be baptized. So awesome!! So we are helping him work towards Baptism now. It's so amazing seeing the Lord’s love for his children and seeing him touch the lives of everyone. The small and simple things in life truly bring great things to pass!!!!

Alma 37:6
"Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise."

Everyone just remember that the small and simple things truly do bring great things. So always make sure you are doing the small and simple things by reading scriptures, praying, smiling at someone that day, helping others, etc. There are many more just remember to do them! Have a great week!
